October 25th, 2009 - 12:35 pm ICT by ANI Tell a Friend -

Washington, Oct 25 (ANI): Legendary crooner Morrissey was hospitalised last night after he fell unconscious on stage in Swindon.

The 50-year-old Morrissey seemed week and tired as he started the concert before a gathering of nearly a 1000 fans saying: “Good evening…probably”.

According to fans he “winced and strained” as he sang This Charming Man and collapsed after he finished the song.

Two of his band mates carried him off stage.

Thereafter paramedics attended on him for breathing problems before he was rushed to the Great Western Hospital.

Morrissey is reported to be in a “stable” condition.

Fans at the Oasis Leisure Centre venue were told: “Morrissey has left the building - he is seriously ill.”

Mark Taylor, a fan said: “Everybody started booing, thinking ‘here we go again’. He has a bit of a poor track record for cancelling his concerts.”

Morrissey (real name Steven Patrick Morrissey) has pulled out of several gigs this year due to “unspecified illness”.

The News of the World quoted a spokesman for the Great Western Ambulance Service as saying: “A 50-year-old man was reported to be suffering from respiratory problems and was unconscious.

“We sent a paramedic in a doubled-crewed ambulance. When they arrived they found a conscious patient who was not feeling well at all.”

“Morrissey is being reviewed by the medical staff and his condition is stable,” a rep of the Great Western hospital added. (ANI)
