Sep 20 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The 26 years old nuptial tie finally came to an amicable end, when Oscar winning actor Morgan Freeman (72) and his wife, costume designer Myrna Colley-Lee, finally got divorced after three years of separation. The divorce was filed in 2008 and it was granted on September 19, by a Mississippi Judge in Jackson. Morgan Freeman and Myrna Colley-Lee got married in 1984, and stayed together till 2007. The reason behind their separation and divorce has not been revealed by any of the couple. However, Morgan’s business partner, Bill Luckett said, that the divorce was filed for legal and practical purpose. While a tabloid item claimed that Myrna Colley- Lee came to know about Morgan’s cheating on her, with a close friend of Myrna, that prompted her to take the decision.

William R. Wright, the lawyer of Morgan Freeman said that the veteran actor is delighted to have ended the relationship and so is his ex- wife. The divorce was finalized on Sept 15, and was not subjected to any trials. The couples first met, while they were working together in an off-Broadway theater production in 1976.

Morgan Freeman was married twice. His first wife, Jeanette Adair Bradshaw was married to him in 1967 and got divorced in 1979. Morgan Freeman and Jeanette Adair Bradshaw had two children together. Myrna Colley-Lee was married to him in 1984. Morgan Freeman gained success in his career with films like Bruce Almighty, Evan Almighty, The Dark Night,Street Smart, Clean and Sober, The Million Dollar Baby and Lucius Fox, amongst many others. He won the Academy Award for the Best Supporting Actor, for the film Million Dollar Baby, in the 77th Academy Award. He received Mississippi’s Best Award, for Lifetime Achievement, in Jackson, Mississippi in 2008.
