Los Angeles, Dec 13 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The very talented actor Morgan Freeman has played the character role of Nelson Mandela in the Clint Eastwood movie Invictus. Morgan Freeman has said that he spent his life preparing to play Nelson Mandela. Freeman said that he was very comfortable playing the leader and mouthing Nelson Mandela’s lines and dialogues.

“This may sound stupid, but as an actor you embody the role, and whatever you say is from total conviction,” he explained. Morgan Freeman divulged that he met the legendary leader Mandela in the 1990’s and then Mandela said that he specifically wanted Morgan Freeman to play himself in a movie someday.

He concluded that he had always been preparing to play the legendary leader someday in a movie. He was also very happy that he found such a good script and then he sent it to Clint Eastwood. Clint Eastwood also liked the script and immediately said yes.

Invictus released in the US on December 11 and in the UK on February 5, 2010.

Some critics are of the opinion that it was very easy for Morgan Freeman to play Nelson Mandela because they have a bit of resemblance and their mannerisms are also quite similar, esp. the style of walking.
