Sep 20 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Academy Award winning actor Morgan Freeman, and is now ex-wife Myrna Colley-Lee have finalized their divorce, according to Freeman’s lawyer, after the decree was entered by a judge on September 15.

William R Wright, attorney for Morgan Freeman, shared with the ‘Associated Press’ the the terms of the divorce are sealed. The divorce decree was entered by a judge in Tallahatchie County, Mississippi, where both parties live. “It was done without a trial,” Wright went on to explain Friday. “Everybody is glad it’s over.”

The couple separated in December of 2007 after being married for 26 years. They filed for divorce under seal in July of 2008. Freeman is an actor who lives in a ranch near Charleston in Tallahatchie County and Colley-Lee is a costume designer for films and theater.

Kay Farese Turner, who is from Memphis, Tennessee handled the case for Colley-Lee and said that both parties were “relieved and pleased with the terms of the settlement.” Colley-Lee has decided that she will remain living in Mississippi, since she works there with schools, and different art programs. “She has lots and lots of friends there and she had decided to stay there,” her attorney said.

The couple was married in June of 1984. Trouble came in November of 2009, when Freeman settled a lawsuit which was related to a car wreck which seriously injured him and his passenger. Demeris Meyer filed a lawsuit against Freeman which stated that the actor had been drinking when the accident occurred. Soon after, the Freemans separated.
