Apr 20, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Award-winning actress Mo’Nique’s brother has created quite a stir with his appearance in the “Oprah Winfrey Show”. During his interview to Oprah Winfrey, Gerald Imes has admitted that he used to abuse his Oscar winning actress sister when they were children. Mo’Nique’s brother also went on to express his apology for his act in the show.

While revealing details about the instances of sexual abuse, Gerald Imes revealed that he started molesting the actress when he was 13 years old while his sister was just seven. He further stated that the molestation went on for about a period of two years and added that he had abused the trust of his own blood sister. The show also witnessed the presence of Mo’Nique’s parents with Alice Imes, the siblings mother reiterating that the revelation was indeed a heartbreaking thing to come to terms with. However, Gerald Imes also expressed hope that in the near future he and the noted actress would actually come together as brother and sister. At the same time, Mo’Nique’s brother also divulged that he started resorting to booze and drugs at the age of 11 and even he had been sexually abused as a child.

Despite the fact that Mo’Nique had earlier talked about being molested at the hands of her own brother, the revelation left the audiences quite shocked as previously the claims made by the actress had been completely refuted by her brother. Meanwhile, Oprah Winfrey added that the Oscar winning actress did not accept the offer to appear in the interview but added that she had given her blessings to the show.
