Beverly Hills, Mar 7 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Mo’Nique has won the Best Supporting Actress Award at the 82nd Academy Awards. Clad in a shimmering gown, she thanked the Academy for showing that the award is about the performance, and not about the politics. She also thanked her husband for showing that sometimes it is important to forgo doing what is popular, and do what the heart says is right. She seemed very emotional, while accepting the award. However the award was no surprise at all, as she was the top favorite to win this award.

She had earlier said that since she doesn’t like to shave, so she is not going to do it for the red carpet as well, but mercifully she was clad in a long gown, which hid her hairy legs. Her hairy legs have been visible on the red carpet many times around, and they are also the source of mirth and amusement on the Internet.

The other nominees for this award were Penelope Cruz for Nine, Vera Farmiga for Up in the Air, Maggie Gyllenhaal for Crazy Heart and Anna Kendrick for Up in the Air.
