New York, Nov 5 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The famous comedian Mo’Nique has taken up a tough task in her new movie ‘Precious’. The fun loving comedian has taken up a tough mental challenge to play the role of Mary Jones - the vicious, abusive mother in the critically acclaimed film “Precious: Based on the Novel ‘Push’ by Sapphire.”

She managed to fulfill her acting requirements for most part of the movie, but some scenes demanded so much hate from her that she almost had an emotional breakdown. “There was one time that I got scared because I didn’t think that my mind or heart could go to that place,” the 40-year-old comedian and actress said.

Her portrayal has been so searing, so devastating, that she’s being held as a possible Oscar nominee too.

She said, “It was excited. It was challenging because I love to laugh, baby, I love to laugh. But it was appreciated because I don’t know of any other director that would have given two fat, black women the opportunity to do what we did… The world needs to see it because guess what, Mary Jones exists, baby. So does Precious.”
