Model injured by plane propeller starts to walk again
December 9th, 2011 - 10:27 pm ICT by Aishwarya BhattLos Angeles, Dec 9 (THAINDIAN NEWS) A model who was seriously injured in a freak accident has started walking again less than a week after the incident. Lauren Scruggs was left with a fractured skull, badly damaged left eye, severed left hand and brain damage when a plane propeller accidentally struck her on Saturday.
At a press briefing organized by the family on Thursday, Scruggs’ parents said she has regained consciousness but does not remember the details of the accident though she still remembers she was involved in some sort of an accident. The family revealed that Scruggs looked into the mirror for the first time since the incident happened.
The biggest news however is that Scruggs is walking again. The family said Scruggs took the steps on Wednesday.
Scruggs’ eye is still in a bad shape. Writing on her personal blog CaringBridge.org, the family revealed that, “The left eye is still non-responsive. The doctors will continue monitoring it for the next few days. Also, please pray her (sic) Lauren as she begins to learn the extent of her injuries and continue to pray away all infections.’’
The family has set up the Lauren Scruggs Hope Fund to help raise funds for the various surgeries that will be needed to restore her.
