London, April 02(ANI): Michael Jackson’s personal physician Dr. Conrad Murray, who is facing involuntary manslaughter charge over the King of Pop’s death, has claimed that he needs to continue practising medicine in order to be able to pay for his defence in the court.

The California attorney general had earlier demanded for a suspension of the doctor’s medical licence.

However, Murray’s attorneys Ed Chernoff and Joseph Low said their client would be unable to afford to pay for his defence, if he was stopped from practicing medicines.

“He is, without fear of overstatement, hanging on by a thread. His ability to pay for his own defence depends almost entirely on his ability to continue to treat patients,” the Mirror quoted the lawyers as writing.

Meanwhile, the attorney general’s office said a representative of the Medical Board of California would challenge Murray’s licence.

He has been already ordered not to use anaesthetics.

However, his lawyers insist there is no need to revoke his California licence since he does not practice in the state.

Murray allegedly injected Jackson with anaesthetic propofol and other drugs, which caused his death. (ANI)
