MJ’s mother seeks info on estate

July 30 (IBNS) Katherine Jackson, mother of Michael Jackson, has urged a judge for granting the power to request for information on her son’s estate from the current executor through her legal team.

Lawyers for Katherine have already asked for the authority to subpoena attorney John Branca and former music executive John McClain.

The two men have been named in Jackson’s will as executors of his estate, a foreign news agency reported.

As per the agency report, they want to interview the men and search their records.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Mitchell Beckloff will not respond to their request until Monday.

On that day, he plans to consider a wide range of matters, which include whether the special administrators will continue their roles and whether an allowance will be granted to Katherine and Jackson’s three children, Prince, 12, Paris, 11, and Blanket, 7.

A written statement from L. Londell McMillan, who is part of Katherine Jackson’s legal team, said: Tuesday’s filing was meant to expedite the process of obtaining ‘important personal, business and legal information and documents relating to Michael Jackson’ including his deal with concert promoter AEG.

They’re also seeking ‘life insurance policies, settlements and disputes as well as agreements between the temporary special administrators and Michael Jackson’.

McMillan hoped to see the documents before the Aug 3 hearing, said Globe and Mail.

Jackson’s will filed in 2002, has appointed attorney John Branca and music executive John McClain as co-executors of his estate. It leaves 40 per cent of the estate each to Katherine and Michael’s three children with the remaining 20 per cent going to children charities.

McMillan did not clarify if Katherine wanted to be appointed a co-executor, or intended to contest the appointment of Branca and McClain as executors.

McMillan, who worked with Michael during the past three year, says Katherine asked him to visit her on the day Michael died.

When McMillan saw her over the weekend, she voiced her concern about the estate and asked him to represent her.
