London, August 5 (ANI): Michael Jackson’s mother Katherine has withdrawn her petition seeking control over her son’s estate.
The pop legend had apparently nominated his attorney John Branca and veteran music executive John McClain as executors in his 2002 will, who will now be in-charge of the superstar’s estate until at least October.
However, Jacksons had earlier claimed that they had no knowledge of the nomination in the will.
Branca and McClain’s lawyers had lodged a complaint against Katherine during the 13 July hearing, the Daily Express reports.
They had insisted that: “As late as 4.10pm Sunday, July 12th, one of the attorneys for the Jacksons sent an email to Howard Weitzman (one of the attorneys for the Special Administrators) stating that it was his intent to have the order reflect that Katherine Jackson should be treated like a third trustee…”
But in the recent development, the King of Pop’s mother requested her petition for control of the estate be withdrawn altogether following which judge Mitchell Beckloff admitted Jackson’s 2002 will into probate.
Meanwhile, Katherine was named permanent guardian of the singer’s three children, Prince Michael, 12, Paris, 11, and seven-year-old Prince Michael II, aka Blanket. (ANI)
