MJ ‘wanted to play Peter Pan’

July 25th, 2009 - 1:00 pm ICT by ANI Tell a Friend -

Michael Jackson Washington, July 25 (ANI): Pop Legend Michael Jackson wanted to play Peter Pan, theatre director Sir Trevor Nunn has revealed.

The helmer said that the late singer, who met him to seek advice on his tour in the 80s, was extremely emotional about the story of the boy who never grew up.

In fact he expressed his desire to play the character on knowing that Nunn had staged performances on the story.

“I explained we had done the show in London using adult actors to play the children and suddenly his eyes were brimful with tears and he came across the room and he knelt down in front of me and he grabbed my knees and he said, ‘Could I play Peter Pan? Is it too late for me to play Peter Pan?’ ” Contactmusic quoted him as saying.

The stage director added that the King of Pop got excited about the fairy tale each time he heard of it.

Nunn added: “He said he wanted to be able to fly over the audience and I said, ‘That’s not a problem. There’s no difficulty I had people flying over the audience when I did ‘Peter Pan’.’ It was like I had pressed a button that would give him an electric shock - everything changed.

“He sat bolt upright and the excitement was just overwhelming, he jumped up, he walked round the room, he kept repeating, ‘Peter Pan, oh my god, Peter Pan.’”

Michael died on June 25 at his LA home, of an apparent cardiac arrest. (ANI)
