Washington, 22 (ANI): The feature-length documentary made on Michael Jackson after his death will hit screens across the world on October 28.
According to Sony Pictures, the film titled after his scheduled concert ‘This is It,’ will be on theatres for only two weeks.
The feature length film contains footage of the King of Pop rehearsing for his London comeback concerts.
Sony announced through a news release that tickets would go on sale Sept. 27.
“Audiences will be given a privileged and private look at the singer, dancer, filmmaker, architect, and genius as he creates and perfects his final show,” Us quoted the letter as stating.
Kenny Ortega, who is directing the flick, revealed that it will give a rare insight into the pop legend’s life.
He said: “As we began assembling the footage for the motion picture, we realized we captured something extraordinary, unique and very special. It’s a very private, exclusive look into a creative genius’ world.”
Referring to the ‘This is It’ concert he said that it “may go down as the greatest concert that no one got a chance to see.
“But with this film, we get a rare portrait of Michael as he prepares for his final curtain call and what I believe was going to be his master work.”
The concert promoter AEG Live had handed over 100 hours of video it shot from April through June to Sony.
And according to the contract approved by L.A. Superior Court Judge Mitchell Beckloff, the film must be screened for representatives of his estate no later than Oct. 2, should be rated PG and must not include material that “presents Michael Jackson in a negative light.”
Initially the release date was set for October 30. (ANI)
