Washington, July 31 (ANI): The promoter of Michael Jackson’s memorial concert, AEG, has come under an investigation by authorities in Los Angeles amid accusations that the promotion company has broken a promise to donate ticket profits to charity.

Stars like Mariah Carey and Stevie Wonder performed at the tribute, held at the city’s Staples Center on July 7.

AEG, the firm that was in charge of Jackson’s doomed comeback concerts in London, helped organise the memorial.

The majority of tickets were given away for free to Jackson’s family, friends and fans, with devotees from around the world allocated seats in an online ballot.

However, according to reports, some people had to buy their way into the event, with the company selling 18 suites at the Staples Center for 5,000 dollars.

AEG executives had allegedly promised that the proceeds would be donated to the LA Police Foundation.

However, a report now suggests that the City Attorney’s office has been inundated with complaints that the money was never received.

A representative for AEG said that the firm was still working out finances relating to the event.

“We have every intention of making this donation,” Contactmusic quoted the representative as having told TMZ.com.

AEG organisers behind Jackson’s memorial came under fire after the event from L.A. city chiefs who claimed the tribute cost the area 1.4 million dollars to stage, and urged the promoters to help cover the costs. (ANI)
