Washington, August 7 (ANI): Late King of Pop Michael Jackson’s father, Joe, had reportedly bullied him into signing a new agreement with his own business manager Leonard Rowe just three months before the singer died.
According to a new Rolling Stone expose, Michael’s manager, Frank DiLeo, has revealed that Joe told the singer that the promoters behind his comeback shows in London were cheating him out of millions, before fixing a meeting between the ‘Thriller’ hitmaker and Rowe in March.
DiLeo recalled that Michael told him that he had signed the document Joe put in front of him because “my dad was standing over me.”
However, AEG Live boss Randy Phillips, who masterminded Jacko’s ill-fated comeback, has revealed that Michael was later prompted to end his brief relationship with Rowe during a heated meeting at the Beverly Hills Hotel in Los Angeles in mid-May.
“When Joe saw that it wasn’t going his way, he got in my face. He said, ‘If it weren’t for me there wouldn’t be a Michael Jackson,” Contactmusic quoted Pillips, who was present, as having told Rolling Stone.
The journal report further reveals that Michael fired off a letter to Rowe after the heated meeting, writing: “You do not represent me and I do not wish to have any oral or written communications with you regarding the handling of my business and/or personal matters.” (ANI)
