Missy Elliott talks about her journey with Graves’ disease

Washington, June 24 (THAINDIAN NEWS) During an interview with People magazine, rapper and producer Missy Elliot spoke about her struggle with Graves’ disease. It has been six years since the singer came out with her last album and fans has been left in the dark as to the reason why it has taken such a long time for the singer’s next project to come up.

This is the first time that the singer has spoken about her struggle. Graves’ disease affects the body’s ability to fight infections by attacking the autoimmune system and the thyroid gland of the body.

The 39-year-old told the magazine that the disease made some tasks almost impossible for her. She was quoted in the magazine as saying that, “I couldn’t write because my nervous system was so bad – I couldn’t even use a pen.”

Missy Elliot realized that she had the condition after she lost control of her muscle. She narrated that, “I was trying to put my foot on the brake, but my leg was jumping. I couldn’t keep the brake down and almost crashed.”

The singer has undergone radiation therapy and she is still recovering from her condition. She told the magazine that she has regained the functioning of her thyroid gland.

The singer promised that her next album is currently being worked on.
