Aug 24 (IBNS) Miss Venezuela Stefania Fernandez notched up the Miss Universe 2009 title, it has been flashed across the globe.

The 18-year-old lady outshone four big finalists, who are from Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Kosovo, and Australia.

Stefania, wearing a red dress during the beauty pageant, jumped in exultation upon hearing Miss Dominican Republic, Ada Aimee De la Cruz, is named as the 1st Runner-Up.

All her doubts over her grabbing of the Miss Universe title were put to an end.

Stefania and last year’s Miss Universe Dayana Mendoza share hug on stage and the two jump in happiness.

Receiving her crown from Dayana, Stefania accidentally dropped the tiara on-stage.

Yet, Dayana helped picking it up and put it on Stefania’s head who then faced the audience like nothing had happened.

Meanwhile, named as the 2nd Runner-Up was Miss Kosovo Gona Dragusha. As for the 3rd Runner-Up, the predicate went to Miss Australia Rachael Finch. In addition to them all, Miss China Wang Jingyao was chosen as Miss Photogenic, while Miss Thailand Chutima Durongdej was named Miss Congeniality.

Dyana Mendoza, Miss Universe 2008, crowned her successor at the conclusion of the two-hour primetime telecast before an estimated worldwide viewing audience of approximately one billion viewers.
