New York City, May 19 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Perhaps Miss USA contest winners have a penchant for being in the news for all the wrong reasons, and the current incumbent of the title is no exception to the rule. Rima Fakih was crowned Miss USA 2010 a couple of days earlier, and now pictures have surfaced in which she was a participant in a pole-dancing contest. She had participated in 2007.

However she is not easily ruffled, because she said in her defense that she “didn’t do anything wrong” when she participated in a pole-dancing contest. She added that, “I can’t deny the pictures, obviously people can see them.” She was present on the ‘Today’ show with hosts Meredith Vieira and Matt Lauer, and there she presented her side of the story.

The new Miss USA 2010 said that she wanted to make it absolutely clear that it was “not a stripper pole contest. It was actually a promotional event that my friend, who’s a DJ at a radio station, had for women (to) teach them how to dance and be sexy. (There were) doctors, lawyers — everyone in Detroit”.

There are reports that despite such pole dancing pictures, Rima Fakih is expected to keep the prestigious Miss USA crown.
