Miss Delaware Kayla Martell Fails To Win Miss America Pageant 2011

ksattuLas Vegas, Jan 16, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Highly anticipated and much touted Miss America Pageant 2011 took place at the Theater for the Performing Arts at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas last night. The world witnessed 17-year-old Teresa Scanlan winning the competition by beating 52 other contestants. However, the fans voted for Miss Delaware Kayla Martell and Miss New York Claire Buffie as they wanted to see one of these two beauties win the crown. Though 22-year-old Kayla Martell left no stones unturned to make her dream come true, yet she failed to win the judges’ heart at the end.

Kayla Martell was one of the top ten finalists of the grand event. However, her dream shattered to pieces when she failed to make it to the top five contestants. The “America’s Choice” winner is the second Miss Delaware, who could make it to the top 15. The 22-year-old bald beauty, who suffers from hair-fall due to alopecia areata wore custom made wig for the contest. Kayla Martell, in one of her interviews, prior to the pageant seemed quite excited when she said that she is would style her wig with lengthy curls to make it look all the more presentable.

Miss Delaware is one of those contestants, who received attention from the media outlets and American people before as well as during the pageant. The 69th Miss Delaware, in one of her interviews prior to the pageant said that a woman should never be defined by her hair. The Delaware beauty’s mother Rhonda Martell previously said that she is proud of her daughter as she is representing the state. However, Teresa Scanlan took away the cake and won the scholarship of $50,000 along with the crown.
