London, June 30, (THAINDIAN NEWS) They say it is hard to get away with a lie. The gravity of the statement was once again proved at the Miss Cromwell Beauty Pageant. Reportedly, the organizers of the event stripped off the beauty crown from the winner’s head after they discovered a fabricated application. The British beauty had lied about her age and her residential address on the application form of Miss Cromwell.

According to the rules of the beauty pageant, all contestants have to be in between the age group of 15 and 24 which makes them eligible for the contest. However, Laura Anness who happens to be 27 years old had lied about her age as she claimed to be 22 on all application forms that she submitted in between 2006 and 2010. It was Becky Chapman, the competition organizer who retrieved the old forms while she was cleaning her office. After she verified the details of the winner, she landed up on the mentioned address in Saltash where she couldn’t find Laura Anness. It was later discovered that Laura Anness was not from Cromwell but from Plymouth which is against the rules of the beauty contest.

After she was stripped off her beauty crown, Becky Chapman told the media that the 27 year old teacher had been taking part in the beauty contests by posing herself to be much younger than her actual age. Laura Anness has also returned her winning amount of 2,000 pounds along with a one year modeling contract. Samantha Jane Orpe, the Runner-up in Miss Cromwell shall be crowned as the winner and shall get a chance to compete for the Miss England title.
