Miss California Carrie Prejean Has “No regrets”

April 21st, 2009 - 5:33 pm ICT by GD Tell a Friend -

In what has become the most talked about moment in the Miss USA 2009 pageant, Perez Hilton asked a question to Miss California Carrie Prejean and her answer caused the audience to give her thumbs down, and possibly cost her the crown. She is still not backing out from what she says because she has “no regrets” about the answer she offered to gossip blogger Perez Hilton’s question.

Perez Hilton spoke about Vermont’s recent ruling that same sex marriages would be made legal in the state and asked Miss California is every state should follow Vermont’s example and if they should not, why. To this, Miss California Carrie Prejean answered, “I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman. No offense to anybody out there, but that’s how I was raised.”

Her answer left many frazzled as it did Keith Lewis, the co0dirctor of the Miss California pageant, and he said, “”I am personally … hurt that Miss California believes marriage rights belong only to a man and a woman.” Perez Hilton released a video on his blog where he called Prejean a “”stuipd b***h”. But Prejean seems unfazed by the criticism and defended herself saying, “I wouldn’t have had it any other way. I stated an opinion that was true to myself, and that’s all I can do. It did cost me my crown. It is a very touchy subject and [Hilton] is a homosexual, and I see where he was coming from and I see the audience would’ve wanted me to be more politically correct. But I was raised in a way that you can never compromise your beliefs and your opinions for anything. I feel like I won.”

Good for Carrie! It’s too bad that the judge did not give her his vote for being honest!
She’s a perfect example for today’s young ladies.

Thank you Carrie for standing up for your belief in God. You are a good example of what is right in America. We need to be respectful of others but remain true to our beliefs.

It’s great that she had enough confidence to be honest. She won my vote just for that!

You are a winner because I do believe that they (the gay community) used this question to platform their
belief in “same-sex marriage” and was able to influence the Miss USA 2009
results because they did not get a favorable answer; or an answer that would
support their (the gay community’s) cause. It seems to me that there is not
only “intolerant bigotry” going on here; but also the suppression of “Freedom
of Speech” which the US Constitution protects for every United States Citizen
no matter if it is politically correct or not. It is a shame that the gay
community has been allowed to “Grand Stand” this issue in the Miss USA 2009
pageant because it gives them National Televised News Coverage to exploit
public opinion to gain further support for this issue. It is a shame and a
disgrace that the Miss USA pageant has allowed this to happen; to allow
itself to be used a political vice to support someone’s hidden agenda. It
was a low blow to allow a Miss USA judge (Hilton) to abuse this position (as
judge) to exploit Miss California because she had a different set of values
and beliefs she wished to express. This is not only a black mark against the
Miss USA pageant for allowing this to happen but a black mark against the gay
community for using the pageant to further exploit public opinion for their
    cause. There was nothing wrong with Carrie Prejean presenting her beliefs;
than it would be for Judge Hilton to present his beliefs. But it is not
correct for someone to use their appointed position to suppress another
person’s freedom of speech; at least in my opinion. Freedom of Speech is one
of the Freedoms that our county fights to preserve everyday; one of the
reasons why so many uniformed men and women die for each day. And I cannot
believe that the News Industry can sit by and allow this to happen since
their very existence relies on Freedom of Speech. As a nation we should not
    allow this to happen.

You can send the response above to the News Media. I think they need to wake
up and turn this thing around and come to the defense of this poor girl
because her right to Freedom of Speech has been suppressed by the fact of
what the Miss USA pageant allowed to happen. My son is gay and I support him completely, but this is not the issue at hand.

carrie keep your chin, up and that beautiful smile, the miss usa beauty pageant is the loser here! honesty and sticking to your values, while under pressure, knowing your answer might cost you your goal. you are the fabric, of the america i love. this issue is irrelavant to this contest, and perez hilton, and the powers to be, are idiots, who were blind sided by the answer they didn’t want to hear. they should clean house of these hipocrites, and start fresh with people who are capable of making honest decisions relavent to this contest, instead of promoting their own agendas.

  8. robert meshew Says:

    Carrie I applaud your integrity.
How the Miss USA pagent allowed a bigot to exploit their personal agenda is a travesty. It scares me to think homos fell justified in destroying someone that does not agree with their view. So much for live and let live!
