Mishap claims American Idol contestant Alexis Cohen

July 28 (IBNS) Former seventh season “American Idol” contestant Alexis Cohen was allegedly hit and killed by a car in Seaside Heights, New Jersey.

Cohen (25) was found by a driver and a passenger lying on the side of the road early Saturday morning, police officials told “The Insider.”

Cohen was transported to Community Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead at 0630 hours on July 25.

An autopsy performed Saturday afternoon revealed injuries to the head, chest and abdominal areas that were reported to be caused by a collision with a vehicle, according to Deputy Chief Michael Mohel of the Ocean County Prosecutors Office.

Cohen auditioned for “Idol” in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in August of 2007 and the episode aired in January 2008.

Police have reportedly arrested a suspect in the hit & run death of the outspoken former American Idol contestant, who was killed over the weekend after she was struck by a car on the Jersey Shore.

According to The Ashbury Park Press, police in Seaside Heights, NJ have booked 23-year-old Daniel Bark, of Tom’s River, NJ, on charges of death for reckless driving and leaving the scene of an accident in connection with the death of Alexis Cohen, 25.
