Here is the latest updates on the Misha Barton fiasco. The buzzword everywhere seems to be that Barton’s mental health was jeopardized when photos of her in a new bloated up avatar started doing the rounds in the entertainment. Seems quite related as within one week of her “bloated” image making the news, the usually reed thin actress was taken in to the Cadars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles and placed under California’s involuntary psychiatric hold law, 5150 on Wednesday, July 15. The same one that pop star Britney Spears was out under when she had faced a major breakdown in January 2008.

The bloated pictures had surfaced after the 23 year old actress had made her appearance at the opening of the Harrods summer sale, as onlookers were almost led to speculate about the drastic change in her appearance. Since her “The O.C” days, and her subsequent rise to stardom, the svelte star has always been known for her waif thin frame and her looks. The puffiness was blamed on the dental surgery that she was supposedly undergoing dental procedures to have her wisdom tooth removed.

Barton had been facing a losing and gaining weight schedule since January this year when she had dropped to a size 6-8 from her previous healthy 12. She was caught looking gaunt after the weight loss. This time however, she had been photographed at Harrods last month, looking pale and unhealthy with the pounds sitting uncomfortably on her.
Earlier, reports had made the rounds that due to her failed relationship Barton may have turned to alcohol heavily which was the reason for her bloated appearance.
