On Wednesday, July 15, the police received an unlikely emergency call that led them to rush off to the Hollywood home of actress Mischa Barton. Sad news later made it to the public, that the talented actress has been hospitalized and is placed under the section 5150- the part of US legislation that qualifies Barton for posing a threat to herself or others. This is the same hold that pop star Britney Spears was placed under after she had a breakdown way back in January 2008.

Since then, Barton has been shifted to be under observation at the Los Angeles’ Cedars Sinai Medical Center by the police. This bit of news has been confirmed by Barton’s representative, Craig Schneider in the released statement in which it has been stated, “Ms. Barton was safely transferred to medical treatment for which she remains hospitalized, as per the recommendation of her doctor.”

Det. Gus Villanueva of the Los Angeles Police Department said, “Shortly after 3 p.m, a police unit responded to the home of Mischa Barton for a medical issue, which the Police Department is currently helping her with. No one was arrested.”

Due to the health issue and her subsequent admission to the hospital, Barton had to put off making her appearance at the premiere of her new movie “Homecoming”. Producer Austin Stark has confirmed the reports that Barton will be absent from the red carpet premiere ceremony on Thursday. He said, “There were some medical problems. She’s not able to travel, as far as I know.”
Schneider has further said that Barton’s participation in CW’s new show “The Beautiful Life”, “will ultimately be contingent upon her progress and doctor’s orders.”
