Mirren replaces Midler in Spector biopic
July 20th, 2011 - 3:47 am ICT by IANSLondon, July 20 (IANS) Veteran actress Dame Helen Mirren has stepped into the shoes of actress Bette Midler in a new biopic about disgraced music mogul Phil Spector.
Midler was forced to quit the film due to a herniated disc in her back. Now Mirren has replaced her as Spector’s attorney Linda Kenny Braden, reports dailystar.co.uk.
The HBO film will star Al Pacino as Spector and chronicle the music producer’s first trial for the 2003 shooting of actress Lana Clarkson at his home.
The case resulted in a mistrial in 2007. But in 2009, a second trial ended with a conviction and a 19-year prison sentence for Spector.
