Miranda Kerr named Earth Hour’s global ambassador 2011
March 6th, 2011 - 5:22 pm ICT by ANISydney, Mar 6 (ANI): Australian model and new mother Miranda Kerr has been named the global ambassador for this year’s Earth Hour.
Kerr, who has an organic skin-care range and blog, has pledged to turn off the lights on Saturday, March 26 - whether she’s at her plush New York pad or her luxurious LA digs.
“Each of us has a responsibility for the sustainability of our planet and each of us can make a difference if we choose to do so,” the Sydney Morning herald quoted Kerr as saying.
Kerr has said that on top of supporting the hour-long lights-out event, she will also ‘go beyond the hour by continuing to recycle and by buying organic produce from local farmers’ markets’.
Organisers the World Wide Fund for Nature will be hoping Kerr’s sex appeal rouses Melburnians in particular to turn out the lights.
The environmental event, which is now in its fifth year, is expected to be one of the biggest, with more than 130 countries participating. (ANI)
