Mike Tyson’s Love For Pigeon To Be Featured By Animal Planet

tysonJan 8, (THAINDIAN NEWS) When it comes to pigeons, heavyweight champion Mike Tyson definitely has a softer side, and it has been identified by Animal Planet, as the channel is all set to air a six part documentary, entitled as “Taking on Tyson”, that would deal with his passion for pigeons and racing them. The boxer said that pigeons were man’s first “feathered friend”.

Mike Tyson said to a leading news source that his life is dedicated to pigeons. It is not just his hobby, but something that he would keep on doing till he leaves his last breathe. In this particular documentary, the boxer comes down to Brooklyn to shoot the film. He, along with a few more trainers, would be preparing the birds to get ready for the race. The film shows what it takes to be a pigeon fancier. Mike Tyson takes a lot of pride to say that he always keeps his birds clean, healthy and well nourished. The heavy weight champion also added that as a child he would often bunk schools in order to escape the wrath of the bullies, but would soon find peace when he would resort the pigeons and look after them. As he grew up, he modified his small pigeon coop into a bigger house, right next to his gym. However, these pigeons are not the typical ones that generally comes and sits at the window pane. He nurtures creme de la pigeon, which is regarded as the most expensive and the best sub species of this bird.

According to the sources, “Taking on Tyson” is not just about pigeon racing and the boxer’s love for the species. It also gives an intense insight about his personal life and certain softer aspects about his personality. The documentary will air on March 6 on Animal Planet.
