“Midnight Express” Fame Bill Hayes On National Geographic Channel

midnight-stJuly 1, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The author of “Midnight Express” (1977) Bill Hayes appeared on last night’s show of “Locked Up Abroad” on National Geographic Channel at 10 p.m. ET. This was the premiere of season 7 of the “Locked Up Abroad” where Bill Hayes spoke about his book and also his experiences in the Turkish Jail. The show had a recorded number of viewers where the audience got the glimpse of what prisoner faces in the jails of other countries.

Bill Hayes, 63 spoke about his five long years in the Turkish jail after being convicted in an attempt to smuggle two kilos of hashish from Turkey to the United States in this season’s premiere episode “The Real Midnight Express”. The author of the book Billy Hayes, after 35 years opened his mouth in the “Locked Up Abroad” show and he said that he loved the city Turkey before he was arrested for the drug case. The book “Midnight Express” was later directed by Alan Parkar in to a movie of the same name.

In the last night’s episode of “Locked Up Abroad” Bill Hayes told how he escaped from the Turkish prison and also that his real escape is very different from the escape that is shown in the movie “Midnight Express”. Bill Hayes said that after so many years of silence, he thought this was the right time to tell the truth to the world. He spoke in the show about his marriage with Windy West, his children and all about his personal experiences that he faced. As for the viewers, it was certainly an eye-opener of sorts to get to know about the author’s life in the foreign prison.
