Mickey Rourke to remove teeth for rugby role
January 3rd, 2011 - 5:53 pm ICT by ANIWashington, Jan 3 (ANI): Mickey Rourke, who has signed up to play Welsh rugby ace Gareth Thomas, is planning to remove his two front teeth so he can realistically portray the gap-toothed player on the big screen.
The actor is also taking lessons to speak in Thomas’ Welsh accent, reports Contactmusic.
Rourke will remove his capped front incisors to replicate Britain’s first openly gay rugby star’s gappy smile, which was the result of a particularly nasty onfield tackle.
“Mickey intends to get as close to the character as he can. He is going to get rid of his two front teeth - he will be taking them out,” Thomas’ agent, Emanuele Palladino, told the Daily Express. (ANI)
