Los Angeles, May 26, (THAINDIAN NEWS) “The Biggest Loser”, a television show featuring only obese contestants has announced its winner for the year 2010. While Michael Ventrella, Ashley Johnson, Koli Palu and Daris George made it to the finals and walked out with a fit body there was only one among them who walked out with the crown of the ‘biggest loser’ on his head. The “Biggest Loser” finale episode was broadcast yesterday night on NBC.

So whose name was taken at the end of the two hour episode broadcast last night to be declared the winner this season? It was Michael Ventrella’s. The man was more than 520 pounds at the time when he entered the show and yesterday when he walked out of the sets he was a mere 264 pounds in weight. Considering that he could shed more than 50% of his total weight in such a short span of time was indeed praiseworthy. Thus it was Michael Ventrella, who entered the show weighing the heaviest, who took home the cash prize of $250,000. The first runner up this year was Ashley Johnson who became lighter by 183 pounds and following him was Daris George who shed a little less than 170 pounds of his weight.

While the Chicago man secured the highest amount, he was not the only happy man on the sets yesterday. The ‘At-Home part of the challenge’ in the ninth season of “Biggest Loser” was won by Koli Palu, who took home a total amount of $100,000 as cash prize. It has been reported that last night’s episode increased the rating of the show by a huge margin. The producers are hence keen on bringing the show back for another season.
