Prince William London, April 17 (IANS) Singer George Michael has recorded Stevie Wonder’s 1972 song “You and I” as a wedding gift to Kate Middleton and Prince William who will tie the knot April 29.

Michael says the song is a perfect choice and has encouraged his fans to download it free, reports femalefirst.co.uk.

“The song is called ‘You and I’. It was recorded in 1972 and written in 1972 by the wonderful Mr. Stevie Wonder, who has just this evening waived the rights until way after the wedding. So that’s great news. It’s all free. So you can download it to your heart’s content. I think this one was the perfect one,” the 47-year-old told CNN’s ‘Piers Morgan Tonight’.

The singer recorded the song in a week and says it was inspired by the good weather in London.

“The idea came to me last week, actually, about a week ago, that I should… perhaps, kind of express my happiness at this marriage in a way. You know, it was a very beautiful summer - it wasn’t summer’s day. But it was an April day that happened to be like summer here in London,” he said.
