macMay 27, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The grand finale of the popular reality show, “American Idol,” churned out quite a few mind blowing performances, from the contestants and guest performers like. For one, there was the surprise entry of Poison frontman Bret Michaels, fresh out of the hospital after having suffered brain hemorrhage. Then there were the likes of Michael Lynche and Michael McDonald. Although Bret Michaels was obviously the one who stole the hearts of the audience with a great rendering of the Poison smash hit “Every Rose Has Its Thorn,” Michael McDonald was not left far behind either when it came to wooing the audience.

Michael McDonald kickstarted his performance with his signature “We’re taking a trip back to ’80s AC radioland.” Later on, Michael McDonald and Michael Lynche joined hands, or rather, voices, on the stage of “American Idol.” They performed a duet of the timeless classic from The Doobie Brothers, “Takin’ To The Streets.” However, their performance did not win as many accolades as it could have, with some of the critics slamming it as being weak and unworthy of the “American Idol” platform. However, that was not the opinion that all of the critics held. Some of them felt that both Michael McDonald and Michael Lynche surpassed themselves in the performance on the stage of American Idol.

Later on, after the performance was over, Michael McDonald said in a backstage interview that performing on American Idol was great opportunity for him. He further commented on a number of aspects of the show, including the news that this was the last season for judge Simon Cowell of being a regular on the show. He said that he would be missing watching Simon Cowell.
