Los Angeles, Nov 9 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Michael Lohan, father of troubled actress Lindsay Lohan, has been charged with domestic violence following his arrest last month. Lohan was arrested twice late October after he allegedly abused his ex-girlfriend and violated his bail terms by trying to contact the woman again.

The 51-year-old has also been charged with violating a restriction order and obstructing lawful arrest. He jumped off the balcony of a hotel when the police moved in to arrest him for violating a protective order.

Lohan has been in jail since his arrest on the 27th of October. A judge refused him bail during his last court appearance. He is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday and his lawyers will likely put in another application.

Prosecutors in Florida brought the charges against Lohan. The spokesperson of the Florida State Attorney in Hillsborough County, Mark Cox, told reporters that, “The charges are first-degree misdemeanors punishable with up to one year in jail each.”

Lohan was first arrested on the 25th of October when former girlfriend Kate Major told police that he struck her. He denied the accusation saying it was revenge for leaving her (Major). When he was granted a bail, the judge gave him strict order not to contact Major again but he did exactly that in less than 12 hours.

Major contacted the police and Lohan was arrested at his hotel. His attempt to escape through the window by jumping from the third storey only landed him on a pile of chairs. He injured his foot in the process.
