mic June 21 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Michael Jackson passed away on June 25, 2009 at the young age of 50 years old. Coming from very humble beginnings in Gary, Indiana, Michael soared into worldwide fame by the time he was twenty, and ruled the 80’s with such hits as “Beat It” and “Thriller”. His dance moves, and musical talents took music entertainment into a new level, and opened doors in the industry which otherwise could have taken years.

Just one year ago this week, Michael Jackson was working day and night to prepare for a comeback tour the likes of which the world had never seen, and most likely never will. With his perfectionist spirit, Michael strove to smooth out every little wrinkle in his planned show, which he hoped would show the world that he was still the King of Pop, and show his children exactly who their daddy was. And now, a year later, thanks to a reconstruction of that day by the ‘Associated Press’, the world gets a peak into the last day of Michael Jackson’s life.

In the early afternoon on June 24, Michael Jackson came down the stairs of the rented mansion which he shared with his kids, to sit down and eat what would be their last meal together. His chef, Kai, Chase described Michale as energized and in a good mood. “He smiled and put his hands together for a prayer, He said, ‘Thank you, God bless you.’”

Just before 7 pm, Michael Jackson stepped into the back of an Escalade which his bodyguard, Faheen Muhammad was driving. Michael Amir Williams, who was Michael’s personal assistant sat in the front seat. They drove to their destination, the Staples Center, for Michael to attend his final rehearsal.

According to accounts by Jackson’s vocal director for many years, and singer in upcoming shows, Dorian Holley, “He was completely enthused. It was hard to discern any difference between his energy and his physicality between then and his earlier days.” As they preformed “Thriller” in full costume for the first (and sadly last) time, one of the dancers stated, “His face said it all; he loved it.”

The bodyguard noted that when they drove home, Dr. Conrad Murray’s car was already in the driveway. Jackson was escorted by security to the bottom of the stairs, since no one other than his kids, and Dr. Murray was allowed upstairs. Michael soon began to say that he was tired and needed sleep.

At approximately 1:30 on the date of June 25, Murray gave Jackson a 10 mg Valium. Within a half an hour, Jackson was given 2 mgs of lorazepam, which is another anxiety medication. This was administered through a saline drip. By 7:30 am, Jackson was still not asleep, according to Murray, so he injected 2 mgs of midazolam into Jackson’s IV.

Murray states that at this point, Jackson had made repeated requests for propofol, which Murray alleges Michael was addicted to. Murray said that he had been trying to ween Michael off the drug, which is only supposed to be given as an anesthetic before surgery. Murray had been giving it to Michael as a sleeping agent for quite some time.

According to Murray’s accounts, he finally relented at 10:40 am and gave the singer propofol. He injected 25 mgs into Michael’s IV, and watched the singer for 10 minutes. He went to the bathroom, according to a police affidavit, and within 2 minutes, he returned to find Michael not breathing.

As Alberto Alverez, the logistics director for Jackson entered the bedroom, he saw Murray administering CPR to Jackson with one hand, he told police. Paris, and Prince, 2 of Jackson’s kids entered the room crying, and were quickly led away after seeing the doctor trying to save their dad. When paramedics arrived at 12:29 pm, Jackson had no pulse. Although a range of attempts were conducted to revive the singer, he was pronounced dead at 2:26 pm on June 25, 2009 at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center.

Michael never got to perform that last tour. As the world mourned in shock, three heartbroken children said goodbye to their father, and a family said goodbye to their brother, son, loved one. The footage of Michael’s last rehearsals was put together as a film, which fans everywhere rushed to see. It was aptly entitled the same as his intended final tour, “This Is It”.
