Michael Jackson’s kids to get their own lawyers

Michael Jackson Aug 11 (IBNS) Late King of Pop Michael Jackson’s three children will soon get their own lawyer because the judge looking into the case of the singer’s will feels that their interest might different from that of their grandmother, who has the custody of the children.

The CNN reported that Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Mitchell Beckloff has delayed his decision for a week, whether to approve several contracts for the estate to give the children’s new lawyer. The lawyer will be appointed by the judge, who now wants more time to weigh in on the deals.

Last week, Michael’s mother Katherine was appointed as the guardian for the children, but she was not made the guardian for their interest in her son’s estate. Katherine has accused the executors of her son Michael’s estate of “keeping her in the dark.”

Estate Lawyers and other companies involved have warned the judge saying that the delay in a verdict could cost them millions.

Kathy Jorrie, a lawyer for concert promoter AEG Live, said that delayed contracts would provide for Jackson tribute concerts in London, England, starting next July, and an exhibition of Jackson memorabilia that would travel to at least three cities.

“The longer we wait, the more time passes, frankly, the less interest there will be on the part of the public to come see it,” Jorrie said.

The judge has already allowed Columbia Pictures, a division of Sony, to use video AEG Live shot of Jackson’s last rehearsals for a documentary due out this fall.
