Michael Jackson memorial ticket registration open to non-US residents

LOS ANGELES (BNO NEWS) — Hundreds of thousands of people are hoping to get a ticket to Michael Jackson’s public memorial service on Tuesday, the star’s PR firm said on Friday evening.
As of 5.30 p.m. PDT, a total of 524,330 people registered to participate in the special drawing which will distribute free tickets to 17,500 people. Most of the tickets, 11,000, will be for access to the Staples Center where the memorial is held. The remaining 6,500 tickets will be to access the NOKIA Theatre across the street of the Staples Center where a simulcast broadcast will be shown. The show will also be aired live around the world.
AEG also announced it has incorporated additional legal terms into the conditions of entry to allow non-U.S. residents the opportunity to register for the ticket drawing.
Earlier today, Michael Jackson’s PR firm said that www.staplescenter.com, the website where people can register for the drawing, had received more than 500,000,000 hits in just two hours, averaging about 120,000 hits per second. An additional server had been added to accommodate the volume of traffic.
