memorial14It can be said that the memorial service for the late superstar Michael Jackson is going to be one mega event, if the number of fans willing to attend the event is taken in to account. Since the organizers and the Jackson family spokespersons have announced to the world that the King of pop’s memorial will be held at the Staples Center and tickets will be given away to fans to attend the event, it seems that fans are thronging to the mentioned places in hordes.

It seems more than 1.2 million fans are trying their luck at the random draw of the 17,500 tickets, eager to be a part of one of the biggest memorial events ever. Fans have registered in dozens till Saturday evening 6 p.m, by logging on to the www.staples.center.com, ever since the announcements have been made. With the number of people logging on to the site, trying to register, the website’s server had crashed briefly for a while, early on the morning of Friday, right after the announcements were made. By the Friday evening almost around 500,000 people had registered on the staples.center.com website.

In an effort to discourage a massive turn out of fans on the scheduled day, officials have said that there would no funeral procession and no one who is not authorized with the presence of a ticket and a wrist band or media passes, would be allowed inside the premises. Even those who work there, will have ti have valid papers to get themselves inside.

Michael Jackson’s memorial service is supposed to be held on Tuesday, the 7th of July at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
