Michael Jackson inquiry may turn criminal

The investigation into the death of dead 80s King of Pop Michael Jackson could turn into a criminal inquiry, according to Los Angeles Police Chief William Bratton.
Batton’s statement was the clearest indication yet that some of the many doctors who treated Jackson over the years could have helped him illegally get the prescription drugs that were suspected of being a factor in his death.
Bratton’s comments come as the Jackson family is waiting for the results of the entertainer’s official autopsy, as well as independent postmortem examination they ordered, shortly after his June 25 death.
Bratton said, “we are still awaiting corroboration from the coroner’s office as to cause of death”.
“That is going to be very dependent on the toxicology reports that are due to come back, and based on those, we will have an idea of what it is we are dealing [with].
“Are we dealing with a homicide or are we dealing with accidental overdose?”
A number of Jackson’s doctors have been issued subpoenas for his medical records as investigators try to figure out how Jackson got hold of the large quantities of prescription drugs that were in his possession at the time of his death.
A source involved with the investigation said police found numerous bottles of prescription drugs in the singer’s $100,000-a-month rented mansion in Holmby Hills.
The Associated Press and the Los Angeles Times, citing unnamed sources, said Diprivan was among the drugs found during a search of the premises following his death.
Diprivan is a powerful sedative that is administered intravenously and is known by its generic name Propofol.
