mjFans finally bid their final good bye to the King of Pop in the service that was held on Thursday, September 3rd.

It was a star studded affair as high profile celebrities gathered at the venue to mourn and pay their last respect to the superstar, as he was laid to rest in a private ceremony; a final farewell that befits a King. Few of his die-hard fans too had gathered outside of the venue to see the star one last time; which was a futile attempt nevertheless, because the service was held much in seclusion from the outside world.

The service took place almost two months after the death of the “Thriller” star, at the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Glendale, California. The same place where his body had been stored over the past month since been discharged from the coroner’s office.

A host of celebs including names like Elizabeth Taylor, Lisa Marie Presley, Chris Tucker, Mila Kunis, Macaulay Culkin, Kenny Ortega, Barry Bonds, Corey Feldman, The Rev. Al Sharpton and others attended the event. There was an estimated turn out of about 200 guests for the service.

The event kicked off a little late, by almost an hour and a half, because the Jackson family took some time at arriving at the venue. Initially, the service was supposed to begin at 7 p.m., but because of the delays, the ceremony was postponed and began at around 8:30 p.m.

MJ was carried in to service in a golden casket by the pall bearers. The ceremony has laid to rest the month long speculations of whether Jackson’s body will be laid to rest at the Neverland Ranch. An amended version of his death certificate was filed in Los Angeles to indicate Forest Lawn to be Jackson’s resting place.
