Michael J Fox: I’d rather drink battery acid than have beer
April 9th, 2010 - 5:46 pm ICT by ANILondon, April 9 (ANI): Golden Globe award winner Michael J Fox feels quitting alcohol has helped him battle Parkinson’s.
Fox says he would now prefer drinking battery acid to beer.
Michael consumed alcohol to come to terms with the news that he had Parkinson’s, reports The Daily Express.
The 48-year-old actor describes his early years of soberness “like a knife fight in a closet”. The actor was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 1991.
But now, the Back to the Future trilogy actor feels giving up alcohol has changed his condition for the good.
“I wouldn’t say it’s a struggle to stay sober. I’d rather drink battery acid than have a beer right now. But I would say that I picked up tools that helped me with Parkinson’s,” says Michael.
“There’s no better lesson in loss of control than to have Parkinson’s. Because you learn very quickly what you can control and what you can’t control, ” he adds. (ANI)
