May 4, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Renowned American actor Michael Douglas, speaking about his son’s association with drugs said that it was true that he gave more importance to his professional life than his private life at one point of time in his career, but refuses to accept the fact that it was he who was responsible for the trap that his son had fallen into. Michael Douglas’ son Cameron Douglas is now behind bars for his alleged involvement in dealing with drugs.

It had been reported earlier that the 31 year old son of the 65 year old Oscar winning actor was caught dealing with the drug methamphetamine at a hotel in Manhattan. Michael Douglas has issued a statement where he says that his son’s five year term in prison may well prove to be a blessing in disguise. He hopes that the vice which his son has been a victim of since his teen years can be cured only when he completes the sentence of five years.

Michael Douglas has confirmed that his son had been dealing with drugs since he was a 13 year old kid and has also tried killing himself. So the jail sentence may in reality help to put an end to the drug habit. However in all of this, the actor does not hold himself responsible for his son’s behavior. Michael Douglas says that it is true that he was not there for most years of his child’s growing-up days, but he was then working hard to make a career, working hard for the future of his own family.
