michaelAug 17, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The fans of the “Wall Street” actor Michael Douglas were shocked to hear the news that the actor has been diagnosed with throat tumor. The actor who is married to Catherine Zeta-Jones said he is optimistic about his treatment, a reputed media source reports. However, the representative of the actor, Allen Bury confirmed the news to the media but refused to divulge anymore details about it.

The media reports that the actor will undergo radiation and chemotherapy over eight weeks. The doctors expect that Michael Douglas will make a full recovery after the treatment. “The American President” actor in one of his interviews to a reputed media source said that he is “very optimistic” about his treatment. Allen Bury refused to comment if the tumor is benign or malignant but the medical experts have their own opinion. A reputed media source reported that Dr. Eric Genden, chief of head and neck cancer surgery at Mount Sinai Medical Center said that the tumor may be malignant as the doctors do not treat a benign tumor with radiation and the fact that the actor will get chemotherapy for eight weeks indicates that the tumor may be in a more advanced stage.

However, the doctors suggest that these kinds of tumors are very “treatable” if they are in the voice-box. The publicist has not commented anything if the actor’s treatment will affect his work schedule and promotion of his highly anticipated upcoming movie “Wall Street: Money Never Stops” which is scheduled to hit the theaters at the end of September. The veteran actor is also set to appear in upcoming action thriller “Knockout” and the powerhouse cast of the movie includes Ewan McGregor, Michael Fassbender, Michael Angarano, Channing Tatum, Antonio Banderas and Bill Paxton.
