Sep 12 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Michael Douglas described the last 12 months in his life as “very nasty” though he says that his professional career have been good over the same period.

The Academy Award winner is in his third week of treatment for cancer. Douglas is fighting with Stage IV throat cancer but he is confident he will beat the disease. The 65 year old said he was not contemplating on dying and as such has not gone on “soul searching”.

The last year can be best described as up down for the famous actor. The actor finally got some positive reviews after a series of disappointments with the movie, “Solitary Man”. The actor has also penned a deal to feature in “Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps”. Douglas shot to the limelight with his performance in “Wall Street” in 1988 and the line “Greed is good” become an instant slogan in the United States and around the world.

That is about all the good news the actor can boast of in a year. The actor’s personal life has been very challenging. His former wife is claiming a part of the proceeds he will get from his appearance on “Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps”.

His eldest son – 31-year-old Cameron Douglas was jailed for five years in April after he was found guilty of possessing heroin and crystal methamphetamine. And to cap a worse personal year for the actor, he was diagnosed with every man’s dreaded disease - cancer. The cancer could not have grown in a worse place than an actor’s throat.

Douglas is married to another star Catherine Zeta-Jones, who is 40 years old and the couple has two children Carys, 7 and Dylan, 10.
