At this year’s 37th American Film Institute (AFI) Awards, Academy Award winning actor and producer Michael Douglas was honored with the Life Achievement Award. The event had taken place last week and it was telecast on television on Sunday, July 19, premiering on TV Land PRIME at 9 p.m EST. It was the same honor that he had bestowed upon his famous father, Kirk Douglas, way back in the year 1991; and now, it was his turn to receive the very same honor. The famous father-son duo walked down the red carpet, enjoying the stroll before the big event. The onlookers went in to a overdrive when Michael kissed and hugged his father in greetings.

Michael’s equally famous spouse, Welsh actress Catherine Zeta-Jones was beaming and made her happiness quite evident, as she arrived at the awards ceremony, looking her usual stunning best. She said, “I’m a very proud wife tonight.” She stated that she was overjoyed at the limelight cast on her famous husband and father-in-law, and was certainly basking in the glow of it.

The 64 year old Michael Douglas said, “Tonight is very special to me, because my father is here, years after getting his award. And my mother is here. I’m touched, I really am.” His mother Anne Douglas was also present at the ceremony. “I’ve never been worried about being a movie star. Go with good material, and don’t worry about the size of your role. You just have to do what you love to do.”

Close friends and colleagues of Douglas from the Hollywood circle who had attended the event included some high profile names like Jack Nicholson, Sharon Stone, Warren Beatty, Annette Bening, Kathleen Turner, Mathew McConaughey and more.
