Sep 6 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Michael Douglas was just recently diagnosed with stage four throat cancer, and gives himself an “80% chance to make it”. Just before he was told of his illness, Douglas gave an interview for ‘Men’s Journal’ and expressed some of his life’s regrets, including that of putting his Hollywood career ahead of being a father.

Michael’s son , Cameron was sentenced to five years in prison earlier in the year, after being convicted of dealing methamphetamines. Michael pleaded with the judge for lenience in his son’s case and expressed his guilt for not being there as much as he should have been.

Michael expressed that he has repeated some of the same mistakes which his own father,Kirk who is now 93 years old, had made in the past. “He was a rager early on. He was overworked. He was doing five-plus pictures a year. I just sort of stayed out of his way, but he did the best he could.”

Michael recognizes his father’s behavior was repeated in himself when he was a young father and new actor, and says, “My career was really just getting started and that was my focus, maybe more than it should have been. I was gone more than I should have been.”

He also voiced his concerns about how his son will cope with life after prison. “I just want to talk to him about what he’s going to accomplish there besides working out and playing on the softball team. What tools is he going to be able to work on?”

Michael has just completed eight weeks of chemo and radiation for a tumor which was found in his throat. His wife, Catherine Zeta Jones is standing by him and believing with him for a full recovery.
