Aug 13 (IBNS) Michael Douglas and his ex-wife Diandra are devastated with the arrest of their son Cameron on charges of drug possession.

Cameron is being held at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in New York City after he was found violating the terms of his home detention by allegedly asking his girlfriend to bring him an electric toothbrush with heroin stashed in it. Cameron now faces life imprisonment, reports MSNBC.

“The family is devastated and very disappointed in Cameron’s recent behavior. Any family who has dealt with substance abuse knows how devastating it can be,” Michael said in a statement Wednesday.

The 30-year-old Cameron was on bail and was also confined to his Manhattan apartment after his arrest on charges of distributing methamphetamine, also known as crystal meth. He now faces a mandatory minimum of 10 years in prison if convicted to a maximum of life in prison.

Cameron was under the watch of a private security company when his girlfriend, Kelly Sott, allegedly brought him a black bag that contained an electric toothbrush with about seven grams of heroin hidden in the battery compartment. The security guard discovered the drugs, and alerted authorities.

The 32-year-old Kelly was also taken into custody and had told authorities that she was not aware of what was stashed in the toothbrush.
