Mia Farrow to Tesitfy on ‘Blood Diamond’ of Naomi Campbell
July 31st, 2010 - 12:29 am ICT by Angela Kaye MasonJuly 30 (THAINDIAN NEWS) According to the AFP, actress Mia Farrow is all set to testify next month along with modeling agent Carole White about the blood diamond which Naomi Campbell is said to have received from Charles Taylor of Liberia.
The witness list for Monday, August 9, which was filed by the prosecution in the trial for Taylor’s was crimes in the court in The Hague, includes these two women’s names. The proposed amount of time for White’s evidence to be presented is two hours, with Mia Farrow’s being one hour.
Statements from the prosecution say that both women have agreed to testify about the gift which was reportedly given late at night to the supermodel, Campbell, after a celebrity dinner which was hosted by the former South African president Nelson Mandela back in September of 1997. Campbell refused to testify about the events, and was therefore subpoenaed since she would not talk to the prosecutors on her own. She is supposed to take the stand next Thursday.
The 62 year old Taylor has been on trial on suspicion of being involved in the civil war in Sierre Leone, and stands accused of trading weapons to the rebels in return for the illegally mined diamonds. He has plead “not guilty” on such charges as enslavement, pillaging, rape, murder, and conscripting child soldiers.
