Miami, Oct 14 (IANS/EFE) Mexican singer Cristian Castro, preparing to launch a new album, is also the star of a new Pepsi ad campaign in Argentina.

“It’s a campaign that strengthens the ties between Pepsi and music, showing a completely surprising and fun side of a mega star like Cristian Castro,” Nicolas Lopez Marti, Pepsi’s marketing manager for the Southern Cone, said in a press release.

The ad, which was shot in Buenos Aires and is already airing in the region, begins with a heavy metal band banging their guitars on the stage and leaping into the crowd.

One of the band members takes a break and opens a Pepsi, at which point Castro, wearing a white tuxedo, appears and begins singing one of his classic pop hits, only to morph into a rocker sporting black leather and a punk haircut.

“It was a lot of fun to film this spot,” Castro said.

The singer’s next disc, “Mi Amigo El Principe”, will go on sale Nov 1.
