Mel Gibson Mexican Jail Veracruz, Jan 1 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Mel Gibson plans to shoot his new movie in a Mexican prison and this has led to a number of protests by the inmates and their relatives. Around 300 relatives of the prison protested outside the prison on Tuesday, fearing that their relatives who are locked up inside would be transferred somewhere else and then it would be very difficult to bring them food and to even meet them. One protester held a sign that read “No transfers to make a movie.”

They would have to be shifted because then only the cells can be freed up for the shooting. Gerardo Duran, who is the director of the Ignacio Allende prison, said that the reports of transfers were completely unfounded rumors. But he acknowledged that part of the facility would be cleared to allow the filmmakers to work and shoot the movie. Earlier this month, Veracruz Gov. Fidel Herrera said that a part of the prison would be emptied in January “because a grand production will be filmed there with our friend, the actor and producer Mel Gibson.”

After the protests the director of the prison said that the inmates would not be transferred, but it seems quite unlikely that space can also be freed up in the prison for the movie to be shot and the inmates are also lodged in their respective cells.
