Los Angeles, Feb 27 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Meryl Streep picked another Oscar when she was handed the Best Lead Actress honor for her role in the movie “The Iron Lady.” The actress became the star with the most Academy Award nominations and during the event last Sunday night, she went a step further and won her third career Oscar.

This is the first time in 30 years that Streep is picking an Oscar. She was last honored with the Oscar for her role in the 1982 movie “Sophie’s Choice.” Prior to that, Streep had received her maiden Oscar in 1979 for the movie “Kramer vs. Kramer.” Some analysts believe that the actress is long due for the Oscar.

“I really understand that I’ll never be up here again… “I look out there and I see my life before my eyes… When they called my name. I had the feeling I could hear half of America going, ‘oh, no. Come on.’”

The 62-year-old commands huge respect in the movie world. She is widely regarded as the best living actress. She has received the most Oscar nominations than any other star managing to win just three.

Her first movie was in the movie “Julia” in 1977.
